It began with a quiet realization.
A few years ago, one of us came back from an expensive weekend away and felt more tired than before. Not physically tired. Something else. Like the experience hadn’t really happened, not in any way that mattered.
The photos were there. The itinerary was ticked off. The memories were… forgettable.
We started paying attention after that. And we saw the same pattern everywhere. In friends, in colleagues, in ourselves. People filling their calendars with experiences and walking away empty.
That gap, between the life being lived and the life being felt, is what OneStoryHighwas built to close.
Four Things We Believe
The best experiences are built around story. Not itinerary. Not entertainment. Story.
Silence isn’t empty. It’s generative. Most good thinking happens in the absence of noise. We design for that.
Small beats big. Eight people in a room can go somewhere a hundred never will. We don’t scale at the cost of depth.

Devaleena joined OneStoryHigh from a quiet conviction that most modern experiences don’t really stay with us. A globe-trotter with many years of experience across global organizations, Devaleena has always been pulled toward the stories behind the strategy decks. OneStoryHigh brings together her two lifelong loves … thoughtful work and the performing arts … into something she’d been quietly circling for years.

What shapes how we think
If you want to understand how OneStoryHigh is built, here are some of the ideas, books, and people we keep returning to.
We’re shaped by what we read, who we listen to, and where we spend our time. Writers like Maria Popova, David Whyte, and Rick Rubin. Books that keep pulling us back. Four Thousand Weeks, The Art of Gathering, Deep Work. Ideas from other cultures like ma, the Japanese notion that space between things is as meaningful as the things themselves. And places where time moves differently, like the historical monuments, old libraries, quiet mornings, long walks.
You’ll probably feel all of this in how we build.
The name: OneStoryHigh
We were on a call, mid-ramble, trying to explain what we were building. Sonia Kohli was listening, and then she just said … OneStoryHigh … like it had always existed. There and then we just knew.
It’s hard not to love something that fits so perfectly. Sonia, we owe you one.
